Inclusions or blemishes in gemstones or pearls are naturally a part of their character and are not considered a fault.

Freshwater Pearls are cultured in mussel shells in the lakes of China, Japan and America. Multiple seeds are inserted into the shell and grow for an average of 3 months.

Saltwater Pearls are cultured in the Pinctada oyster shell in the South Seas, including northern Australia. Only one seed is placed in each shell and is cultured for 2 years. The production is more labour intensive. Saltwater Pearls are renowned for the depth and quality of the nacre.

Pearls: avoid exposure to chemicals, chlorine and perfume.

Wood: avoid submersion in water. If wet, blot dry immediately.

Gemstones: avoid contact with abrasive surfaces.

Use soft cloths to clean jewellery. Wipe down with a damp cloth then buff dry with a soft cloth.
